2009 in Review: The Year in Apple

Economic uncertainty. Swine flu. Newspaper articles featuring Jon and/or Kate Gosselin. You can understand why most people will be happy to see 2009 exit stage left. And while the folks at Apple headquarters may be sympathetic to all the 2009-related ennui out there, it’s also safe to say that the company may be a little sad to leave 2009 behind. After all, Apple had a REALLY good year, with a bevy of new products including new MacBooks, iPods and a new iPhone. It also saw the return of CEO Steve Jobs. Financials for the tech giant were strong, with its stock price more than doubling. And the Mac was a major reason why.

Revived Job Listing Hints iPhone with 802.11n

A tipster has recently unearthed an older job listing at Apple that suggests the iPhone is likely to get faster Wi-Fi, possibly soon as its next update. The hunt for a "Wifi Software Engineer" asks for a worker who could implement the 802.11a and 802.11n standards as well as the existing 802.11b/g found in the smartphone today. The electronics maker is clear to to note that this wouldn't be exclusive to one device as it would cover "mobile and phone products."

Kaufman Analyst Ups Apple Price Target to $253

Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu has raised his price target for Apple stock from $235 to $253, citing new Q1 sales forecasts derived from industry and supply chain checks. Apple is expected to record as many as 9.5 million iPhones shipping in the December quarter, well above the consensus estimate of 8.8 million.

Magic Mouse Randomly Disconnecting

A few people have noticed Apple's new multitouch "Magic Mouse" will disconnect at seemingly random times. When the computer is booted the mice connect just fine and are usable for a while; however, they will soon become unresponsive and the "Connection Lost" icon will float at the bottom of the screen.

When this happens, people have had mixed results with trying to get the mice reconnected. Some have claimed that just clicking the mice will get them to connect again, and others have mentioned tapping it on the case of their desktop computers was how they get it to connect.
